Chalet Robinson
A Treasure Island in the City

Looking for a place to cool down on one of the hot summer days? (Yes, they do exist in Brussels!) When hot it is always good to cool off by the water. Most people will be heading to Brussels Les Bains. If you are looking for something a bit more secluded check out the Chalet Robinson in  Bois de la Cambre. This restaurant with a lovely outside terrace is the perfect thing! Set on a man-made island it is an adventure in itself to get there. You cross the water on a little boat. The fair is one Euro – a return ticket, obviously!

When we went, it was very quiet – being a Monday afternoon and not during the holidays. But there are plenty of deckchairs, even for busy days. Some of the deckchairs are outside of the restaurant area – so if you are adventurous you can even take your own drinks there…But why not treat yourself to a nice cold drink at the restaurant? The good thing is, while you might feel quite secluded (you definitely won’t feel as if in the heart of a major town!!) the restaurant does also offer free Wifi! (For those of you who just can’t kick back and relax, or for those who want to follow our blog:-))

Bois de la Cambre isn’t difficult to reach – there are quite a few trams heading there. Depending on which side you enter the huge park, you will have to walk a bit. But it isn’t difficult to find the lake!

Definitely one of our best discoveries in Brussels. Oh, for those of you who like boating: they have rowing boats to rent as well.
